So far I love this exercise. Maintaining the weight is incredible. The battery life for normal use, is very good. I consistently run it under load of more than 15 minutes and cut. It seemed very long, but it was nonstop (flight of winding), which most have never done so. 20 minutes to recharge kept me going. The light definitely helps. I love it!

Great Drill / Driver
This is a GREAT product. The batteries charge very rapidly and Hold the charge for a long time. I store all my tools in a shed outside. I have always had problems with the batteries holding a charge in the NICAD brand. When the Lithium-Ion came about I decided to give it a try since temperture variance does not affect them as bad. So far they have held up great. The Makita brand is a def must have! It is smooth and easy to use. I am very happy with all aspects of the product. I have even ordered a cordless blower that uses the same batteries and currently awaiting its arrival.

Constantly Remodeling
I have this drill since 2007 and have liked its performance so well, I purchased a second one in 2009 just to have on hand. I have several drills available and consistently go to this one for the work I do. I have read the reviews about the batteries and the wobble of the chuck and I have not had this problem on either of the 18 volt Makita drills I own.

I've used Makita tools professionally in my shop for over 20 years and they have proved to good performers and durable. I have an angle drill that is over fifteen years old that's still going and the batteries are still recharging (and are still available). This new drill has a lot of torque in a compact package. Unlike other battery drills that I've had this one has a 1/2 inch chuck capacity.

good really lightweight drill
i just bought the makita drill a month ago so dont reall have much to say other than it is powerful as it states really lightweight you can feel it right away which i think will improve in your projects ,the led light doesnt work that good since it doesnt light up where its supposed to just like around the bit because its located underneath the bit holder ,from what i heard from

Great drill
This drill is lightweight and powerful.I wasn't sure about the 1.5ah batteries but after using it a few times they work great.Have only used it for light homeowners jobs not sure how they would hold up in industrial work.I like the LED light feature of staying on a little while after you let go of the trigger.Great Makita quality, no chuck wobble on mine.

Yes , I've got this for 2 months now. I put it through some tough obstacles. I drilled through 6in of treated 6X6 posts, metal , and concrete without any problems. It's a really good power tool for any usage. The light comes in handy for dark corners. If you are looking for a multi-purpose tool then this is it! It is really great and you wont be disappointed.

It's Harry Homowner's dream drill
It is the lightest 18volt Li-Ion drill I could find. 18-volts is a huge step up in torque from the 9-volt I was used to. (Dewalt's batteries died noble deaths after a large number of years. No complaints there.) The battery charges in 15 minutes, because it's a 1.5 amp-hour battery. That also explains the weight, and the relatively low cost. For more $$$ you can buy Makita's blue BDF451. It's black and blue, instead of black and white, it weighs more, has a 3 amp-hour battery, three speeds instead of two, and slightly more torque at the same speed. It takes a little over 20 minutes to charge the 3 amp-hour battery. Makita may come out with a 14-volt Li-Ion drill, which might do everything I need, but it isn't out yet. For now, this is a great drill at a great price, and probably what you want if you use a cordless drill a lot.

First Impression
I just purchased the drill driver so I cannot comment on battery life, etc. However, the overall design, size, weight, etc. is super. This drill has tremendous power. The batteries charge rapidly. Hope they last a long time! The drill does not include a clip to hold the most common screwdriver bits. The manual mentions an option, but I don't have a clue where to get it. It should be included with the kit!
