Make Concrete Blocks--a Profitable Business
Concrete blocks are a staple of the building trade. They are used to build everything from huge buildings right down to a small backyard barbeque. There is a constant demand for them.
When you are in the concrete block manufacturing business you are selling a commodity. They are not a widget which is in demand now but not next year. The market for cement blocks continues to grow and probably will for a long time to come.
You do not need a lot of money to get started making concrete blocks. This is a really solid business which you can start from home, working from your garage. With hand made molds you can easily turn out 100 blocks in a day's work. Molds are easily made from plywood and sheet metal in your home workshop.
It is possible to build a very profitable business by working evenings and weekends. It costs very little to get started and profits can be very good. All you have to do is make some hand molds, from available plans, fill them with the right concrete mix and turn out the blocks to dry. Portland cement, sand, gravel and water in the right proportions are the ingredients for the concrete mix.
Working from your garage you have low overhead costs. You have no rent to pay and no employee wages. This gives you a huge advantage over bigger manufacturers who must pay for business premises and employee wages and benefits. You can sell your blocks at a highly competitive price and do very well.
In addition to this you have no transportation costs. Bringing concrete products from a distant manufacturer is very expensive due to their weight and size. Local buyers are very happy to have a home town, low cost, supplier. You can sell at a very good price to them and still make an excellent profit.
You will reach a point where demand outstrips the quantity of blocks you can turn out. One person using hand molds can turn out about 100 blocks daily. Part time work will not fill the demand for your product at some point. You then have to consider going full time in your business.
You will find it necessary to acquire a concrete block making machine to boost your production to hundreds of blocks per day. A helper will be needed to carry the finished blocks from the machine to the drying racks. You will also have to think about renting larger premises to accomodate the racks needed to dry a large number of cement blocks.
Concrete block making machines are expensive. They are made by various manufacturers and cost several thousand dollars. Your other option is to build your own machine. Using available plans you can build an excellent machine from auto parts and a few odds and ends of materials. Some welding is needed but a welding shop can do this for you at quite low cost.
Building your own concrete block making machine is not difficult. Plans with instructions are available for building a good machine which works just as well as the expensive commercial models. Hundreds of blocks can be turned out in a day with this machine, enabling you to fill large orders.
Manufacturing concrete blocks is an excellent home based business opportunity. There is at all times a strong demand for concrete blocks. Your chance of success is excellent if you follow the route I have described. You can work at your job till demand for your product necessitates full time work. This eliminates the risk almost entirely. Check this opportunity out. You will find it well worth while.

Concrete-Block Manufacture - Processes and Machines $37.52 PREFACE. THE object of this book is to present in a simple manner those well-established principles of concreting which practice has shown applicable to the manufacture of concrete blocks for building hollow walls. The theoretical and technical questions which arise in connec- tion with the industry are only considered in so far as benefit may result to the operator in the actual manufacture of blocks and their use in construction. The conclusions which have been reached are the result not only of the authors experience in actual work, but of a careful consideration of the successes and failures of a large number of operators throughout a series of years, supplemented by a careful weighing of the many articles bearing on particular phases of the subject which have been published in cement, engineering, and building magazines. To many it will appear that this book is unduly critical. For this no apology is offered. As the. industry grows much of the evil herein criticised will pass away, and it is hoped that this work may, in some measure, aid in giving to the weaknesses of the industry that prominence which can alone secure their eradication, to the end that concrete blocks may universally attain that high regard now accorded in localities where they are manufactured by really able hands. . As no allusion to patents is made in the text, the author deems it but fair to here state that very many of the designs and machines shown are protected by letters patent. To those manufacturers whose ready cooperation has been both a powerful stimulus and a substantial aid in the production of this work grateful acknowledgment is rendered. To those who have so generously furnished illustrations ofthe machines they make, and of the buildings, blocks, and special members produced in machines or molds of their manufacture, the authors thanks are due. The 2006-2011 World Outlook for Concrete Block and Brick $795 The latent demand for concrete block and brick is not actual or historic sales. Nor is latent demand future sales. In fact, latent demand can be lower either lower or higher than actual sales if a market is inefficient (i.e., not representative of relatively competitive levels). Inefficiencies arise from a number of factors, including the lack of international openness, cultural barriers to consumption, regulations, and cartel-like behavior on the part of firms. In general, however, latent demand is typically larger than actual sales in a country market. |

Concrete Masonry Unit $60.54 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In the United States, a concrete masonry unit (CMU) also called concrete block, cement block or foundation block is a large rectangular brick used in construction. Concrete blocks are made from cast concrete, i.e. Portland cement and aggregate, usually sand and fine gravel for highdensity blocks. Lower density blocks may use industrial wastes as an aggregate. Analytical Method in Reinforced Concrete $117.31 This book is unique in that it is the first book to list the equations for the prediction of the internal ultimate strength capacities of beams, columns and CFT (concretefilled tube columns) and footing foundations to resist external axial and biaxial bending loads. Current literature uses the graphical methods including finiteelement procedures and the interaction formula for biaxial bending on reinforced concrete. The equations are derived using only basic mathematics and preclude the use of the current rectangular stress block and interaction formula to solve the ultimate strength capacities of a reinforced concrete section. The equations are generic to the English, Metric and SI units. Examples are shown for the English and SI units. The analytical method employs for the first time the concept of capacity axis of a given reinforced concrete section for equilibrium of internal and external forces. Current methodology does not even recognized this basic geometric property of a reinforced concrete section which can yield different capacities at different positions of the moment axis perpendicular to the capacity axis. With the availability of personal computers these equations could easily be set up in Microsoft Excel worksheet to calculate the ultimate strength capacity of a rectangular and circular section in reinforced concrete. The civil or structural engineer can then use the ultimate strength value in deciding the safety and adequacy of his design. The analytical method illustrated in this book will imbue confidence to the structural engineer when predicting capacities of reinforced concrete beams, columns and footing foundations.
