Accumulation of grease in commercial kitchen floors is quite common. And a greasy restaurant kitchen floor can be a huge hazard. No one wants to end up in a hospital when they go for dinner at some restaurant. But it happens more often than you might think. After all not only hotel employees but customers too are at risk as grease gets carried on into the dining portion of the restaurant by the waiters. Founded in 1997, NFSI is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to aid in the prevention of slips and falls accidents through education and research.

Most of the times, people use laundry detergent or a soap to remove grease. However both these substances are not very effective as they contain animal fat and make the surface slippery only rather than removing grease. Besides this, restaurant owners also make use of bleaches, drain cleaners, degreasers, acids and so on. However degreasers containing harsh chemicals are not suitable and effective in eliminating grease.

Restaurant kitchen floors should be treated with special degreasing and cleaning products which are Eco-friendly and safe to use. As such degreasing and cleaning products are devoid of any harmful chemicals, they are more effective and help you save precious time and money. You can apply it on floors, walls, stoves, hood, rubber mats and more.

You can directly spray the degreasing and cleaning solution on the surface with the help of spray bottle. Other than that, you can also mix the degreasing agent with water to get rid of grease and grime before someone falls. Usually most of the commercial kitchens have safety rubber mats in their food prep areas. The purpose of using rubber mats is to help prevent kitchen workers from slipping. However over a period of time, rubber mats accumulate grease and thus become slippery and unsafe to walk on. The usage of degreasers consisting of chemicals only make the matters worse. As such products only push the grease further in rather than eradicating it. Whereas environment-friendly, all natural degreasing and cleaning agents consist of powerful microbes and enzymes which break down grease, leaving the mats thoroughly clean and safe to walk on.

In order to make kitchen floors slip resistant, it is advisable that you clean the floors with degreasing and cleaning products on a daily basis. When you begin cleaning, it is wise to clean the kitchen floor first and then move on to the dining area of restaurant. Kitchen is the area where grease accumulates first and from there grease is carried forward to the dining area every time hotel staff walk from the kitchen area to the other parts of restaurant. Hence treat the kitchen floor first and thereafter you can clean the dining area floor with the degreasing and cleaning agent. Once you start using chemical-free degreasing and cleaning agent, you can be assured of complete removal of grease and consequently slip resistant floor.
