Sheryl Crow Unveils Plans for North American and Australian Tour
Sheryl Crow’s career began more than two decades ago, when the former elementary school teacher was discovered by local producers in a small Missouri town. After a brief stint as a widely successful TV jingle writer, Crow’s big break finally arrived in 1987, when she was brought on as a vocalist on Michael Jackson’s BAD World Tour.
In 1993, Crow released her first album, Tuesday Night Music Club. The album was an instant hit with fans around the world. It went on to produce several successful singles, move more than 5.3 million units and achieve a 7x Multi-Platinum RIAA certification.
Since Tuesday Night Music Club, Crow has released eight additional albums, including: Sheryl Crow, The Globe Sessions, Sheryl Crow and Friends: Live from Central Park, C’mon C’mon, The Very Best of Sheryl Crow, Wildflower, Hits & Rarities and her latest 2008 release, Detours. These albums have featured some of Crow’s most popular singles, including All I Wanna Do, Strong Enough, If It Makes you Happy, Every Day is a Winding Road, My Favorite Mistake, Sweet Child o’ Mine, Soak Up the Sun and C’Mon C’Mon.
Crow’s latest release, Detours, was reviewed by critics as the resurrection of a classic Sheryl Crow at her finest. The album’s sound mirrors Crow’s earlier work, namely 1998’s The Globe Sessions. In addition, Detours sees Crow collaborating once again with Bill Bottrel, the producer of her widely successful debut release, Tuesday Night Music Club.
To promote and celebrate Detours, Cheryl Crow has begun touring, in concert tour which sees the musician performing in four countries on two continents, over the span of almost half a year. The tour kicked off in August of 2008 in the United States and is set to hit Canada in September and October and Australia and New Zealand in November and December.

The Detour $25 Ernst Vogler is twenty-six years old in 1938 when he is sent to Rome by his employer—the Third Reich's Sonderprojekte , which is collecting the great art of Europe and bringing it to Germany for the Führer. Vogler is to collect a famous Classical Roman marble statue, The Discus Thrower, and get it to the German border, where it will be turned over to Gestapo custody. It is a simple, three-day job. Things start to go wrong almost immediately. The Italian twin brothers who have been hired to escort Vogler to the border seem to have priorities besides the task at hand—wild romances, perhaps even criminal jobs on the side—and Vogler quickly loses control of the assignment. The twins set off on a dangerous detour and Vogler realizes he will be lucky to escape this venture with his life, let alone his job. With nothing left to lose, the young German gives himself up to the Italian adventure, to the surprising love and inevitable losses along the way. The Detour is a bittersweet novel about artistic obsession, misplaced idealism, detours, and second chances, set along the beautiful back-roads of northern Italy on the eve of war. |
