Golf range finders can help you reduce your score almost instantly. When you are watching the super stars of the PGA such as Tiger Woods talk with their caddy before a shot, haven't you thought that would be nice to know the exact distance to the hole. Their caddy has walked the course and made all of those notes in those little notebooks they pull out before each shot. It tells them whether it is 180 or 190 yards to the hole, depending on whether you shoot over the tree or try to hook a shot around it. It sure beats trying to judge the distance just by your own estimate, which can be off twenty or more yards. Being able to know that distance exactly could easily save you a stroke if your calculation was off by 10-20 yards.

When you know the exact distance, then it is much easier to select the right golf club to use. The golf range finders available today on the market can calculate that distance for you. Then you will know if you can consistently hit a five iron one hundred yards, then that will be the club for you. You will no longer choose a four iron and watch your shot carry over the green or choose a six iron and see it come up short. Unfortunately they can't help you consistently hit the five iron 180 yards. They also can't help with the wind factors and other forces of Mother Nature.

The golf range finders are legal in many tournaments, but be sure to check with the organizers before using one in tournament play. Even if the golf range finder is illegal in tournament play, you can use it on your practice round and make your own detailed and accurate notes.

The technology on these golf range finders is quite remarkable. Each company has their own closely guarded secrets, but most use lasers and software to enable them to function correctly. There is a wide range of prices and features available, similar to digital cameras. If you are a serious golfer and don't have one of these in your arsenal, you should strongly consider adding a ranger finder. It could help shave 5-7 strokes off your score.
