What to Consider

So when it comes to buying a reconditioned marine engine so you can fix up your boat and begin your boating adventures, there are several things to think about. One is that size does matter. When you are selecting an engine which is going to be the power source for your boat, you need to consider the size and weight of the boat. Remember that the weight of the boat should be the total weight, including passengers and all the gear that you would normally take along.

Choosing the brand of marine engine that you want to go with is also going to be very important here. Consider the fuel delivery system which can be different with each model of engine and can have separate benefits. First, there is the direct fuel injection system. With this system, the fuel is directly injected into the engine's cylinders. One of the benefits of this method is increased fuel economy and it also gives you more control as well.

In addition, this method offers low emissions, excellent fuel economy, and reduced vapor lock in warmer climates; all things that are very important.

Second, there is an electronic fuel injection system which maintains a constant pressure through the use of an electronic fuel pump. Also available are the carbureted fuel systems which have now been around for many decades. These models are reliable and are frequently cheaper which is often a consideration that a boater finds very important. Just make sure that you consider all three options and decide on the best one for you.
