Sports facilities construction not only includes the installation of sports surfaces, but also other  accompanying equipment and accessories like installation of fences, floodlighting, fixed sports equipment, electronic scoreboards, air supported structures, and many others.

Special technical expertise is required for sports facilities construction because different sports facilities require sports surfaces to be prepared to different specifications depending upon their use. For example, sports facilities that are to be used as Multi-use Games Areas will have to take into consideration the requirements of all the sports to be played on the pitch as compared to single-purpose sports facilities or indoor sports halls.

In case of outdoor sports facilities, the process of construction begins with the inspection of the site. Then follows the excavation of the ground. Care is taken that the base layers are installed in a way that they offer a stable foundation and serve as an effective shock pad. The drainage aspect, which is one of the most important requirements of these artificial sports surfaces is also kept in mind.

Artificial athletics tracks also have to adhere to some specifications. These surfaces are made from an impermeable double compound known as polyurethane which allows better drainage, whilst making the surface uniform and durable. Fibrous rubber granules are blended with polyurethane binders in a special machine. The mixture is then installed at full depth using special equipment. Such athletics tracks are slip resistant and therefore minimise the chances of fall.

Synthetic sports surfaces can vary in their playing characteristics and this is why artificial turf is available in a wide range of pile lengths. Whilst shorter pile is meant for sports played at the professional level, longer pile length may be preferred for recreational sports. All the installation is undertaken conforming to the I.A.A.F guidelines.

Sports facilities include not just outdoor sports facilities, but also indoor games or other activities. Flooring is the most important feature of any indoor sports facility and the choice of flooring depends on the purpose for which the hall is used.  The appropriate flooring is installed depending on the specific activities or multi-functional uses, including social events.

Sprung floors installed in a sports hall offer a premium playing surface whilst reducing the risk of injury and premature fatigue. These floors are durable and easy to maintain.  On the other hand, the hardwood flooring requires multi-layer construction with a durable coating finish. Where a standard seamless surface is required, a polyurethane wetpour surface is laid onto a bonded prefabricated rubber base. Another advantage about this type of flooring is that they are available  in a range of colours which is useful, not just for aesthetic appeal, but also when considering such factors as ball visibility, light reflectivity etc.
