Steel buildings have always been considered superior to traditional buildings. Capacity to withstand high force winds, snow and rugged environmental conditions led to their use in harsh environmental conditions. Steel buildings were originally developed by the British Army and later utilized by U.S. forces during World War 2. These types of buildings were considered as Quonset huts. The name comes from the first manufacturing site, Quonset Point, Rhode Island.

This had been possible for the inherent aerodynamic design of these steel buildings that can air to exit the flow curve over its entire surface and create a downward force which helps stabilize the structure. The use of steel beams pillars and anchored also helped to strengthen the building to the ground. An independent study by the U.S. National Hurricane Center States clearly indicates the effectiveness of steel buildings in the treatment of these forces of nature.
