When choosing a printer, we often look at the price and the ink that it will use. This has made inkjets more attractive to buyers, since the prices of inkjet printers and ink cartridges are much lower than their laser counterparts. However, if you analyze the cost efficiency of using laser printers you will notice that buying the more expensive printer and toner results in savings in the long run. This is because laser printers can produce more with less, which makes them more cost efficient than their inkjet counterparts.

Average prices and output

The average price of an inkjet printer is about $200 to $300, and the average price of a laser printer is about $400 to $600. The average price of ink cartridges is about $30 while the price of laser toner used in laser printers is about $75. Given these figures, you might automatically choose the inkjet printer. However, you need to be aware of the estimated consumption of each type of printer so that you can see which one is more practical to use.

For one inkjet cartridge, you can print about one thousand pages of documents. It costs about three cents to print a page. On the other hand one laser toner unit prints as many as six thousand pages of documents, which means that it only costs one cent to print a page.

Low-priced laser printers

If you are worried about the high costs of laser printers, look for low-pried laser printers that work as well as some of the more expensive laser printers. The average price of these printers is about $290, a price comparable to most inkjet printers.

Inkjet printers are more popular than laser printers because inkjet printers are much cheaper. However, in the final analysis, you can see that using laser printers and laser toners is more economical because of the capacity of laser printers to produce more with less.
