Hewlett-Packard DAT tape drives are based on the reliable DDS technology. Part number Q1580A represents DAT-160 internal USB tape drive. This robust & high performance tape drive is designed & manufactured by Hewlett-Packard. This HP DAT160 drive is more cost efficient and durable than any other tape drive technology.
DAT-160 is based on the DDS-6 tape technology. HP DAT160 tape cartridge's manufacturer part number is C8011A. HP DAT160 tape format delivers enhanced capacity of 80GB (uncompressed). HP Q1580A internal USB drive features 16MB buffer and USB 2.0 interface. HP DAT-160 USB tape drive provides its customers more flexibility and convenience as it supports the advantageous WORM technology. In compressed form, the transfer speed of HP tape drive reaches 49.3 GB/hour.
HP Q1580A drive secures your investment as it has the ability to write/read data from the DDS-4 and DDS-5 (DAT-72) backup tapes. The compatible DAT-72 and DDS4 tapes are listed below:

The cleaning cartridge developed by HP for its DAT160 drive is the DDS C5709A cleaning cartridge. Low ownership cost of HP DAT160 tape technology has made it the top most choice for the data administrators. DDS/DAT drives are best suited for low to mid-range servers, small and medium businesses, remote offices and workstations. In large enterprises, the HP DAT160 tape drive provides excellent results for software loading and operating system backup on mission critical servers.
The capacity range of HP DDS/DAT drives is 40GB to 320 GB, with choice of different interfaces. These interface choices include SAS and SCSI interfaces.
